Lake Jindabyne Trout Fishing Report - By Steve Williamson - 14th August 2006Last week was another of reasonably fine weather and again disappointment with only 2cm of snow in the mountains and a shower of rain over the lake. We did have some strong winds earlier last week, first real blow of the season, which stirred the water up on the lake which always helps to bring the trout to the surface. In fact the surface trolling did improve and bright gold and yellow lures were best on the preceding sunny days. More...

Sydney Flyfishing Report by Justin Duggan - 10th August 2006Hi all, this is a very brief newsflash to let you all know that we are experiencing, what in my opinion is the hottest salmon bite in Sydney Flyfishing history. Mix in some seriously solid kingies and estuary perch and you have a recipe for awesome action. More...

Another disappointing week for snow players, with only about 10cm of new snow which so far is also bad for trout anglers. With very little snow to melt will mean limited water for our rivers and lakes and even less runoff to feed the streams over the summer months. 2006 is being compared to 1982 which was one of the worse snow seasons on record. The full moon this week is usually a time to get good falls of snow but here is nothing to indicate this on the weather map and sunny conditions are predicted for the rest of the week More...

Still not much happening on the snow scene but the people that have opted to try trout fishing instead have been doing quite well. It is strange to see so many people fishing the shoreline and there are a lot more boats on the lake for this time of the season. If the snow is bad at least you can catch a trout at the moment. Over the last week the weather has continued to be very mild and at times almost spring like, which has not been good for the snow fields. Talk is that so far the season is the 2nd worse on record and while this is bad for the ski resorts it is also bad for trout anglers as we need the slow snow melt over summer to continue to feed our alpine streams. Still early, we may get a late season and lots of snow yet. Rain is predicted over the rest of this week and again this may be not good for the snow skiers but at least it will be good for the farmers and it will probably stir the fish up and the fishing will improve. Lake Jindabyne Trout Fishing Report - By Steve Williamson - 18th July 2006The little bit of rain we have had has help the brown trout spawning run and there are now plenty of Fishing in the Thredbo River. Well worth a look if your down by the trout hatchery. Photo's are of David Kenyon fishing in the snow on Lake Jindabyne, David caught 3 nice rainbow trout trolling last week More...
